Dusty Richards

In 1992, Dusty's first novel Noble's Way was published.  Since then, he has over 70 books in print.  His novels, The Natural and The Abilene Trail won the Oklahoma Federation Fiction Book of the Year Award two years in a row.  He has hundreds of articles in print.

Dusty was inducted into the Arkansas Writers' Hall of Fame in 2004.  He was also honored to win the American Cowboy Culture Award in 2005.

Dusty invests a lot of time helping new writers, and as the editor of The Storyteller likes to tell him-he badgers, bullies, pushes, and nags writers into fine tuning their work to get it out to magazines and agents. And there are many, many writers who are grateful that he did. Dusty gives of his time, attention and knowledge and and a better mentor couldn't be found. His column appears quarterly in The Storyteller.

He serves on the boards of Ozarks Writers League, Ozark Creative Writers, Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc., Rodeo of the Ozarks, and the Ozarks Electric Co-op and is a member of Western Writers of America, and an honorary life-time member of OWFI.

Watch for his latest books:  The Horse Creek Incident, The Sharkey School House Lynching, and The Trail to Newton.

Dusty Richards won TWO Spur Awards in 2007.  One for his paperback novel, The Horse Creek Incident and the other for his short story, Comanche Moon. Congratulations, Dusty!

You can read Dusty's short stories on www.amazon.com. Just go to Books, then to amazon shorts, type Dusty Richards in search engine and for .49 cents, you can enjoy Dusty's work.

Dusty is also the Articles Director for The Storyteller. And no matter how busy Dusty is--he always takes the time to help new writers. Thank goodness there are people like Dusty or some of us "new" kids wouldn't make it.

Dusty lives in Springdale Arkansas with his wife, Pat.

Euple Riney

Mrs. Riney has been writing for many years. Her work first appeared in The Amatuer Journal and since then, she's been published in The Storyteller, then graduating up to regular columnist. She has won several awards from The Ametuer Journal, and her columns place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, almost every quarter.

Euple's book, Reflections published in 2004 has already sold out of it's second printing. She's hard at work on her second book, and if her daughter will ever slow down, and get it ready for the printer, it should be out soon.

Euple lives in Maynard, Arkansas, surrounded by three of her children, three grand children, and two great-grand children. She'd be much happier to have her other two children, and the rest of her grandchildren and great-grand children close by her as well, but suffers her disappointment in silence.

Ms. Riney writes a different article each quarter and you never know what she'll come up with next.

Her second book, "Euple's Song" is now available. You can order from amazon.com or from us at The Storyteller, 2441 Washington Rd., Maynard, AR 72444

Bryan Byrd

Bryan has been writing for a number of years and has completed two novels. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and won other awards. A former marine, that, surprisingly doesn't take himself or anyone else too seriously, Bryan looks for the unusual, mundane, and general silliness of life. Not to say he doesn't take life seriously, he just doesn't let it get in his way.

Bryan now works on the riverboats on the Mississippi River.

When an image comes to mind of Bryan--consider THE THINKER. Unfortunately, you never know what thoughts enter his head at any given moment, so expect to be entertained.

Barbara Deming

Ms. Deming has been writing since she was a child and climbed the mulberry tree in her back yard with a Big Chief tablet. She teaches writing at various writing classes in California. Her books The Quilt Maker, Growing Up Barefoot in the South and Pink Poodle Pie are now available on amazon.com. She edits and publishes a newsletter Soul Sisters: Inspirational Newsletter for Women with Brave Hearts and God and Each Other. You can write Barbara at tejasbabs@aol.com. Barbara writes "Barb's Tidbits" for The Storytelle, sharing her own experiences in the publishing world and giving helpful hints and information for all writers.

Barbara loves helping people. Her articles are culled from her own experiences--whether good or bad.

Agents Q & A

Agents Q & A offers writers the opportunity to ask the "burning" questions that you can find answers to elsewhere. Several agents have graciously agreed to answer questions from writers. We ask that no specific questions about your work be asked, but that writers ask the questions that will not only help them, but writers everywhere.

Send your questions to: storyteller1@hightowercom.com with Q & A in the subject line.

This is your best opprotunity to ask agents directly about their opinions and to tap their expertise in writing and publishing matters. Let them help you get a foot in the door.

Our agents are not afraid to speak their minds--you might not like what they have to say, but they'll be honest and you can't ask for more than that.
